Volf Law Practice Areas
As Theodore Roosevelt, 26th President of the United States said, “Justice consists not in being neutral between right and wrong, but in finding out the right and upholding it, wherever found, against the wrong.”
Mediation
Mediation provides litigants with an opportunity to reach a compromise and to eliminate the risks associated with jury trials. Based on my experience handling lawsuits, I believe I am uniquely positioned to be an effective mediator. I cannot promise that your case will settle at mediation. I can promise, however, that I will work hard to help you settle your case, and I will respect all participants in the mediation.
Litigation
Over the course of my legal career, I have tried to a jury numerous cases across the State of Texas, both in state and federal court. With the exception of one case that settled four weeks into trial, all of the cases were tried to a verdict. I have experience and success trying automobile, trucking, oilfield and construction personal injury/wrongful death cases, as well as cases involving commercial fraud, consumer fraud and copyright infringement.
Consulting
In handling numerous oil and gas lawsuits, I have discovered that, despite the best of intentions, many companies are not prepared for, or are at least unfamiliar with, the pitfalls of litigation until it is too late. I am able to offer a wide variety of consulting services to oil and gas companies. I am able to assist those companies in developing sound and effective strategies and plans to help mitigate against the pitfalls of litigation.
About The Firm
For more than twenty years, I was a trial lawyer, and later a partner, at one of the most well-respected trial firms in the State of Texas. Armed with that trial experience and with the support of my family, including my beautiful wife (Jill) and my two amazing sons (Cannon and Case), I decided it was time to start Volf Law.
I am committed to providing the highest quality legal services. I want my clients to take as much pride in announcing me as their lawyer as I will take in announcing them as my client.

Why Choose Volf Law
Experience and integrity are determining factors in choosing a litigator who can both perform and you can trust. As a trial lawyer, I have earned the respect of my clients, my peers, judges and juries, and I have done so with hard work, loyalty and integrity. For the most of my career, I have been handling/trying high exposure lawsuits (on both the plaintiff and the defense side of the bar), including numerous oil and gas and transportation/18-wheeler personal injury and wrongful death lawsuits. Along the way, I have walked hand-in hand with, and I have gone toe-to-toe against, some of the most respected and skilled trial lawyers in the State of Texas. I am committed to providing the highest quality legal services.
Many lawsuits my clients have been part of could have been avoided with proper upfront legal counsel. In light of my vast trial experience, I am able to offer a wide variety of consulting services to oil and gas companies, and I am able to assist those companies in developing sound and effective strategies and plans to help mitigate against the pitfalls of litigation.
A mediator should serve in an active capacity to help both parties come to a resolution and get a new perspective on their case. Volf Law will not operate as a “water carrier” (i.e., I don’t just run dollar figures from room to room without discussion of important issues/positions). I will not hesitate to discuss the parties’ respective issues/positions, including my perception of the strengths and weaknesses in the case. Please do not mistake my discussion of strengths and weaknesses as advocacy for one party or another. I believe that understanding your weaknesses helps sharpen your strengths. Of course, any information shared with me in private will be treated as confidential unless permission to disclose is expressly given to me.
